Niseko – One of Asia’s Largest Ski Fields, Offers Much More Than Skiing!

Niseko is a skier’s paradise, but there are other winter activities to keep you enthralled as well. Of course, skiing will always be the primary attraction to ski bunnies and snowboarders, yet nothing says you have to stay on the designated slopes to have a good time. Cross-country or backcountry skiers can move at their own pace through the miles and miles of countryside throughout the island.

Would it interest you to take a snowshoe hike followed by some ice climbing? If you have never tried it, there are classes with extremely qualified instructors to teach you everything you need and want to know before you attempt these extreme sports. With some of the deepest snow in the world available, the higher elevations have plenty of ice cliffs you may want to traverse.

Other outdoor activities such as horse back riding, snow mobiling and snow rafting just might provide a day of fun that you never imagined before. Snow rafts are towed by powerful snowmobiles and whisk you across the snow in a manner than many have never tried before. Check It out, you just may have found a new snow hobby!

With all the snow to chill the bones, visit one of the Onsens – Japanese Hot Spring Baths – to warm you through to the bone and relax every muscle in your body. Onsens are one of the oldest traditions in Japan. Multiple hot springs both indoors and out are located in the resorts, within the Village and in many other places throughout the island.

For those who like to sing, dance or just have a good laugh watching others as they attempt those things, there are multiple Karaoke lounges, and bars around. Of course, you could also choose to just sit back and have a few cold ones watching soccer, football or rugby while enjoying the atmosphere at the local sports bars.

No vacation is complete without seeing the sites, having delicious meals and of course, shopping for those perfect souvenirs to take back home. With a large variety of restaurants throughout the Village and within the resorts, you can tempt your taste buds with everything from a traditional western hamburger to the Japanese seafood delicacies the area is renowned for.

A variety of day tours can be booked to take you to all the important sites or even just exploring the backcountry in this majestical land. Whatever you decide to do, on or off the slopes, someone is just waiting to get you there with the greatest of ease.
