Niseko Japan’s Ski Resort Haven – Getting There is Getting Easier!

The first thing you would probably want to know is exactly where Niseko is located. Niseko is in the Village of Hirafu, one the Island of Hokkaido. This is the northern most island of Japan’s main four islands. Sapporo is the largest city, home to the Chitose Airport and the capital of the island.

Niseko Japan’s Ski Resort Haven – Getting There is Getting Easier!

Depending on where exactly you are coming from, getting to Niseko could be a little bit of a challenge. For example, getting there from Tokyo is quite common, however it is also more challenging to do. From an overseas country, flying into Tokyo one would have to fly into Tokyo, then transfer 80km away to the domestic airport. There are trains, cars and buses that could get you there, but with traffic, you might wind up missing your connecting flight. It is a good 90 minutes between the two airports during non-peak hours. During peak traffic times it could actually take as long as two hours!

The easiest way to go is fly into Chubu Centair International Airport in Nagoya. You still need to take a domestic flight the New Chitose Airport, but it provides multiple sources of transportation directly into Niseko. If you are coming from Australia, Jetstar services flights directly into Chubu and is a low cost carrier.

Now what about connections to the resort at Niseko? The New Chitose Airport is about a two and a half hour bus ride to Niseko. One of the amazing buses servicing the area is the Skybus. The Skybus will take you directly to your hotel. What better way to take the trip than letting someone else do the driving? Sit back, enjoy the scenery and relax before embarking on the resort experience of a lifetime.

Technically speaking you can take a train or even drive. However, the train requires a couple of transfers and is definitely not a direct route to get there. Renting or hiring a car is also an option, but the roads are treacherous, especially during the winter months when the roads are covered with ice and snow.

Wherever you are coming from, there is an easy way to arrive and plenty to do once you get there. Book your travel arrangements now – that way you have one less thing to think about as your vacation grows closer.
